FCC Chair says Stephen Colbert has lost his touch

FCC Chairman Criticizes Colbert Following Show Cancellation

FCC Chairman Brendan Kerr recently expressed his disapproval of comedian Stephen Colbert after the abrupt cancellation of the late-night show. He stated that Colbert “evidently doesn’t have ‘it’.”

Currently, the FCC head is reviewing a highly anticipated merger between Skydance and CBS, which is owned by Paramount.

Reporter Oliver Darcy, who writes a status newsletter, mentioned that he reached out to Kerr via text this Friday regarding rumors about the potential approval of the merger. He received a somewhat late response from the chairman, who simply said, “Sorry. I missed your message.”

When asked by Colbert if former President Trump had told him to “go F-K” during his program, Kerr reportedly replied, “lol, no.”

“I think that’s just sad. Colbert clearly doesn’t have ‘it’. If he did, well, maybe it’s a case of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome),” Kerr conveyed to Darcy.

“He gets paid millions to be funny, yet he can’t seem to make it work.”

The cancellation of Colbert’s “Late Show” has raised eyebrows, especially as some speculate it might relate to a recent $16 million settlement between Trump and CBS over an edited interview featuring Kamala Harris.

Concerns linger that unresolved litigation from Trump could potentially obstruct the Skydance merger.

Trump recently stated that he expects to receive a total of $36 million from his dealings with Paramount, including an additional $20 million from Skydance. However, Skydance did not immediately confirm this figure.

As the situation unfolds, it seems to have paradoxically increased Colbert’s viewership appeal; his last episode reportedly attracted 3.08 million viewers, as noted by a source specializing in late-night television.

Celebrities and fellow late-night hosts, such as Jon Stewart, quickly criticized CBS executives for allegedly bowing to political pressure from Trump.

In a social media post, Kerr remarked that “Partisan left-wing ritualists are yelling and crying about Colbert,” suggesting that they act as though they’ve lost a loyal spokesperson for the DNC who is somehow above economic realities.
