Federal judge criticizes federal prosecutors: 'They have lost all credibility'

Judge Critiques U.S. Attorney Amid Criminal Cases

U.S. District Judge Zia Faruqui recently voiced criticism about the performance of U.S. Attorney Janeine Piro’s office, particularly as they tackle criminal cases in Washington, D.C.

Farqui declared, “It’s not fair to say they’re losing credibility. We’re past that now,” which suggests a deeper concern regarding the trust in legal processes, even if he noted there’s little faith left in the system.

Piro, who represents the District of Columbia, didn’t hold back on social media, expressing strong opposition against Faruqui’s stance.

She accused him of repeatedly favoring those who break the law, particularly those involved with illegal firearms, and argued that such behavior jeopardizes community safety. “His politics consistently cloud his judgment,” Piro stated, emphasizing that Americans want safe communities governed by law and order.

According to reports, Faruqui recently dismissed a federal lawsuit against Edward Alexander Dana, who was accused of making threats against the president. In connection with that case, Dana was arrested for, among other things, damaging a light fixture at a restaurant.

Piro expressed frustration that the court didn’t pursue more serious charges, saying, “Our duty as prosecutors is clear. We will enforce the law.” Meanwhile, the court opted for multiple misdemeanor charges rather than pursuing an indictment for Dana’s actions.

Piro continued to emphasize that the lack of indictment sends the wrong message. She asserted that they would continue to seek justice, indicating that despite current setbacks, the legal system’s responsibilities would be upheld through other avenues.
