Federal immigration authorities have arrested a Haitian immigrant in the Boston area who had previously been deported from the United States and was also accused of sexually assaulting a woman after re-entering the country.
be press release Authorities with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Jefferson Jerome, a Haitian national, on Sept. 11, 2024, after he was arrested in Dorchester on suspicion of sexual assault.
“This is a critical jab at the racism and slander of the racist and anti-social groups,” Todd M. Lyons, director of the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston Field Office, said in a statement Friday.
Jefferson Jerome has been accused of horrific crimes against the residents of our Massachusetts communities. We will not tolerate the victimization of our neighbors. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending and removing these violent criminal aliens from New England.
ICE officials said Jerome, 30, entered the U.S. illegally through Del Rio, Texas, in September 2021, but federal authorities denied him entry and deported him to Mexico.
However, Jerome reentered in December 2022 in Brownsville, Texas, and was given a Notice to Appear (NTA) before an immigration judge before being released into the country through President Joe Biden's administration.
Jerome then made his way to the Boston area where he was arrested for sexual assault on September 11, 2024. He was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.
The Dorchester District Court, which has jurisdiction over the case, released Jerome immediately on an ankle monitor and with a promise to appear in court to stand trial on the assault charge.
Although the local court assumed that Jerome would dutifully fight the charges, ICE arrested the illegal immigrant as he was leaving Dorchester District Court.
Jerome's arrest comes just months after another Haitian national, who was allowed into the country under Biden's lax border policy, was arrested and charged with raping a teenage girl in the Boston area.
Prosecutor said The 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by migrant Cory Alvarez inside a hotel that was being used as a migrant shelter in Rockland, Massachusetts. The alleged victim was also a Haitian migrant.
Alvarez, 26, was arrested in March and charged with rape of a child under the age of 16. ICE detained him, but Plymouth County authorities release Alvarez was released on $500 bail in July without being turned over to ICE officials.
Alvarez Entered He will be supported by a New Jersey individual as part of the Biden administration's Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan Parole Program (CHNV) and is scheduled to arrive in the United States from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport in June 2023 on a special flight chartered by the Biden administration.
The program, led by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has been heavily criticized for preventing migrants from being properly vetted before being flown directly into the U.S. on taxpayer-funded transport.
