Fever’s Caitlin Clark is loving Pacers start in Game 3 vs. Knicks

Caitlin Clark loves a good 3-point shot.

The Fever superstar, who was selected No. 1 overall in last month’s WNBA Draft after a historic college career at the University of Iowa, attended Game 3 between the Knicks and Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana. was present at the match.

After Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton made a 3-pointer to extend the Pacers’ lead to 55-49 with 2:19 left in the second quarter, Clark was seen celebrating on ESPN.

And Clark wasn’t the only one in attendance, the majority of the Fever roster was in attendance Friday night.

Clark was with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffrey, who also played at the University of Iowa and is the son of men’s head coach Fran McCaffrey.

Clark just finished his second preseason game as a pro on Thursday, contributing 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists to the Fever’s preseason victory over the Dream.

This was Clark’s home debut in Indiana, and she received a warm welcome.

“It was a lot of fun. I thought they were loud and I thought they were going crazy. It was fun to watch,” Clark said after Thursday’s game. “This is a Thursday night preseason game and we’ve got 13,000 people here. I think that’s indicative of what it’s going to be like for us throughout the season. It’s going to help us. I guess.”

The game’s attendance was 13,028, according to official numbers, nearly triple the 4,000-plus per game average for Indiana’s 20 2023 regular season home games.

“For me, this is the best part of this piece,” Clark said. “We have to go out and compete every night, and if one night isn’t good for us, we have an opportunity to come back a few days later and respond. This group is ready (for the regular season). I think there is, and everyone is excited.

“To be honest, I don’t think I was that effective. More than anything, I thought I did a great job of passing the ball and finding my teammates. Of course I would have liked to have made a few more threes. But sometimes that’s how you shoot.”
