Uncasville, CT – The wait is finally over.
Caitlin Clark has high hopes for her WNBA debut On Tuesday night, the Indiana Fever will play the first regular season game of the season against the Connecticut Sun. But despite all the attention, the former Iowa State star remains as steady as ever.
“I’m more excited than anything. I’m not nervous or anxious.” Clark told reporters. during Tuesday’s pregame media appearances.

“When I come here, I feel giddy and excited, like I can’t wait to get out there and play games and have a good time.”
Clark first gained attention for his reputation as one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in college. After he became NCAA Division I’s all-time leading scorer while leading the hawkeye Clark, who played in last season’s national championship game, was selected by the Fever with the first overall pick.
Women’s basketball and the WNBA have benefited greatly from Clark’s popularity.

Fever’s Caitlin Clark draws record crowd in Indiana debut: ‘pretty unheard of’
Clark, 22, will make his WNBA debut at Mohegan Sun Arena in front of a sold-out crowd. This is her second time since starting her professional career. In her preseason debut against the Dallas Wings earlier this month, Clark scored a team-high 21 points in front of a packed arena.
Clark took the court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time last week, drawing a record crowd of 13,028. This is a franchise record and more than triple last season’s 4,000.

“Obviously, our goal is to go out there and win and dominate in all areas. But our group knows that if we go out there and play the way we should for 40 minutes, , I think you know you’re going to get the results you want,” Clark said before the tipoff.
The WNBA season opens with four games starting Tuesday with the New York Liberty vs. the Washington Mystics. The Phoenix Mercury will face the defending champion Las Vegas Aces, while the Seattle Storm will take on the Minnesota Lynx.
