The Irish now advance to the second round, where they face Michigan's sixth place, but it's unclear if they have full power. National point guard Olivia Miles won Friday at 8:44, with Notre Dame leading 39 points and playing with a left ankle injury.
After his teammates and trainers were present shortly after the injury, Miles was able to leave the court himself, but he stepped out a bit of a noticeable foot.
Notre Dame coach Niele Ivy had no details about Miles' status at a post-game press conference, but Miles said she said she was “ok.”
“Yes, an ankle injury,” Ivy said. “I stepped on someone else's foot. It's fine. But she's now getting treatment.”
Miles didn't shoot that well in the game, finishing with just two points on six shot attempts from the floor. but, According to ESPNNotre Dame made 64% of the shots that came out of the pass from Miles and finished with eight assists. According to USA Today, the Irishman was +31 when Miles was in court.
Citron was optimistic about the miles of prospects. Telling athletics: “When she fell, when we were all with her, she was cracking a smile. She's a soldier, she's a warrior. We know she's good.”
Notre Dame last played for Michigan State on December 3, 2020, losing 10 points at home.
Redshirt junior Miles averages 15.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.4 stills, making his career-leading 40% from three-point land this season. She missed everything that was a natural junior season while rehabilitating her knee injury.
