A conservative independent podcaster, whose supporters include many Democrats, seems to be gaining attention from President Donald Trump, particularly due to how the Justice Department (DOJ) has handled the Jeffrey Epstein case.
According to a recent report, the DOJ and the FBI determined that the convicted sex offender, who had ties to prominent Democratic donors, did not keep an official client list because he did not commit suicide, as revealed in leaked notes obtained by Axios.
This sparked a backlash among Trump’s supporters, with notable figures within the movement openly criticizing the DOJ’s findings.
Yet, another group—one that’s typically less loyal—has also voiced its discontent, which is arguably more crucial for Trump’s upcoming campaign. Comedian Andrew Schulz, who faced criticism for hosting Trump on his podcast last October, took aim at the president over this Epstein issue, among other topics.
During a recent episode of “Fragrant,” Schulz remarked, “If I wanted to vote for someone who wouldn’t stop a foreign war or wouldn’t increase their budgets, I might as well have voted for Kamala Harris if I were going to just ignore Epstein’s files.”
The episode also featured guests who were former staffers from the Obama administration and Representative Locanna, a Democrat from California involved in “Pod Save America.”
While the revelations about Epstein were met with immediate criticism from Schulz and others, it reflects a broader sense of dissatisfaction in the podcasting community, especially regarding U.S. policies. Comedian and libertarian podcaster Dave Smith publicly expressed regret over his vote for Trump and apologized after he supported Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran.
“I backed him last year, and I shouldn’t have. It was a misjudgment. At the time, it seemed right, but it clearly wasn’t,” he stated.
Shortly after the DOJ memo was leaked, Smith compiled a list of grievances against the Trump administration, criticizing its actions in the past month, including aggressive foreign policies and covering up significant issues.
Joe Rogan, known for his impactful interview with Trump last October, recently shared his concerns about Trump’s immigration strategies during his podcast. He commented on how targeting construction workers rather than cartel members or drug dealers is problematic.
Popular comedian Shane Gillis also shared his mixed feelings in a recent podcast episode. He mentioned how Trump keeps drawing him back, saying he oscillates between thinking he had left that world behind and then finds himself resonating with Trump’s viewpoints—only to be confused again by the president’s tweets.
