A firefighting crew in California successfully rescued a playful dog that had gotten stuck under a shipping container while chasing a rabbit on Saturday night.
The Ventura County Fire Department reported that Finn, a young goldendoodle, was out for a stroll with his owner around 7 PM when some rabbits darted across their path.
In a flash, Finn took off, zigzagging as he pursued the rabbits, while his owner sprinted after him in a panic.
Unfortunately, the owner couldn’t call Finn back in time. The dog slipped right under the shipping container, following the bunny.
While the rabbit remained unscathed, Finn found himself wedged in a tight space between the container and the ground.
His owner quickly called for help, and firefighters responded with impressive efficiency to rescue Finn, who peered out from the small opening where he was trapped.
After about an hour and a half, according to one onlooker, they were able to lift the container with special tools, allowing Finn to return to his owner’s embrace.
Despite the ordeal, Finn appeared to be in good health, albeit a bit worn out, with all his fur intact.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Coast Guard helped another dog trapped in a shipping container in Texas. This dog, affectionately named Connie the Container Dog, survived for eight days before being rescued, and she was found to be pregnant, later giving birth to a litter of puppies.
Just last week in Pennsylvania, another dog was freed after having a plastic tub stuck on its head for days before being found in a cornfield. The rescuers dubbed the dog Dallas Cheddar.
