1st generation iPhone It sold for $190,373 at Sunday’s auctionnearly 380 times the original price of $499 when this groundbreaking device launched in 2007.
According to LCG Auctions, which hosted the sale, the 4GB iPhone model is 20 times rarer than the 8GB model, which also launched for $599. This is mainly because the 4GB model was discontinued two months after its launch due to customer preference for larger memory sizes.
“On Sunday night, new hurdles were set,” said LCG Auctions founder Mark Montero. “We are thrilled to be a part of this incredible, record-breaking sale.”
This is the third original iPhone to sell for a record price at auction in the past year.
8GB model sold for $63,356 in February, another 8GB model Auctioned for $39,340 All sealed in factory packaging.
