Rep. Lauren Boebert from Colorado reacted strongly to a journalist’s inquiry about alleged romantic ties to former Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie. “First of all, wow!” Boebert exclaimed, referencing claims made by a woman who said she was Massie’s ex-girlfriend. During the exchange, which was captured on video by Fox News Digital, she criticized reporters for pursuing sensational stories, remarking on the rampant sexism in such questions. “We have the clickbait you’re looking for,” she concluded, cutting the interview short.
This incident occurred following a discussion regarding President Trump’s attempts to remove a Republican incumbent and the future of Massie. Initially, lawmakers were contemplating those electoral contests when the topic shifted to relationship rumors.
As per Fox News Digital, the sole source for the alleged affair is a former congressional aide named Cynthia West. She claims that Massie boasted about being intimate with Boebert shortly after his wife’s passing. However, there’s no corroborative evidence for these allegations, leaving them unverified.
West also reportedly tried to offer Massie $5,000 to drop a wrongful termination lawsuit, which he firmly refused. He described her claims as “false and baseless,” suggesting they were intended to sway the election results. Currently, West is campaigning for a position on the Okaloosa County, Florida Board of Education.
Massie took to social media to deny the allegations, declaring, “All claims of inappropriate conduct are false.” He stated that he had never paid anyone for silence and that he faithfully reports his income to the IRS. He also noted that no ethical allegations have arisen during his extensive career in office, despite recently losing the primary election to Ed Gallane, who received Trump’s endorsement last year.
Boebert seemed confused by the situation concerning Massie’s support, especially given Trump’s influence, yet her backing for him has not wavered. She even followed his posts on Truth Social.
