Fitness enthusiasts are moving away from steroids for a safer way to boost their performance.

Swelling — No serious side effects.

For years, fitness enthusiasts have resorted to illegal steroids for muscle gains, often ignoring the serious side effects that can lead to anger issues, infertility, and even death.

However, there’s a shift happening in the fitness realm. More and more people are moving away from these risky steroids in favor of healthier, trendier performance enhancers.

While a number of gym-goers are still misled by the allure of steroids, a growing segment is beginning to mix or replace them with peptides. Jay Campbell, co-founder of BioLongevity Labs, noted that, “The vast majority of users still use various anabolic steroids in combination with peptides. Some of them are [peptides]…Maybe it will replace the need for steroids to some extent.”

Although steroids are still widely used, Campbell predicts that peptides might eventually take their place as the preferred supplement in gyms, largely due to their significant benefits.

These new injectable compounds are currently trending among fitness aficionados and biohackers, as they promise advantages such as longevity, rapid muscle growth, and, naturally, weight loss. GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro are among the most recognized peptides today.

More people are also experimenting with combining different peptides into “stacks” to enhance their effects.

Campbell suggests that the natural occurrence of peptides in our bodies is appealing. “Peptides are naturally occurring and exist as signaling molecules in the body,” he explained. “So when you take a synthetic form, it just helps your body’s natural cellular systems.”

Short chains of amino acids, which contribute to protein formation, are present in certain foods, yet many turn to injectable options for quicker results.

Campbell, who personally uses peptides, mentioned that one well-regarded choice is CJC-1295, touted for stimulating human growth hormone release.

For those aiming for optimal physique, CJC-1295 seems to be particularly effective for boosting muscle growth.

On the other hand, BPC-157 is known for its anti-aging properties; not only does it aid in muscle development, but it also helps in healing the intestinal lining, reducing inflammation, and recovering from stress and digestive issues.

One of the key advantages of choosing peptide injections over steroids, according to Campbell, is “The risk with peptides is extremely low. No one has ever died from an overdose. The symptoms are very mild, and if done correctly, side effects are minimal.”

Nonetheless, weight loss medications are infamous for their peculiar side effects, meaning peptides aren’t completely without risks.

Moreover, buying peptides online or from unregulated sellers carries significant dangers.

Having utilized peptides for over two decades, Campbell acknowledges the concerning side effects that can come with GLP-1, yet he firmly believes the advantages far exceed the risks associated with steroid use.

These side effects can include undesirable physical transformations, low sperm count, facial swelling, acne, and changes in breast size, among others.

Even with these negative aspects, millions, particularly men, continue to depend on high doses of these drugs, with some beginning as early as 13.

Nevertheless, Campbell is optimistic that a change is on the horizon as more research emerges, leading those wanting to build muscle to pivot towards peptides.

“GLP peptides will be very advanced in their functionality,” he noted. “So [people] won’t need the doses of anabolic steroids that were common 20, 30 years ago, or even today.”

He added, “As these new drugs come onto the market, the market will change and adapt.”
