London: British counterterrorism police have detained five men, including four Iranians, on suspicion of planning terrorist activities aimed at specific targets, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police released on Sunday.

The arrests took place on Saturday in various locations, including Swindon, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester, as well as in west London.

Details about the alleged plot have not been disclosed due to operational considerations.

The Iranian Embassy in London has yet to comment on the situation.

Commander Dominique Murphy, who leads the counterterrorism unit, noted, “The investigation is still in its early stages, looking into different lines of inquiry to determine potential motives and assess whether there is any ongoing risk to the public.”
