Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that his state police will partner with special agents for the ICE Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) to arrest members of the Tren de Aragua (TDA) gang. The HSI has said this is the country's first arrest of a member of the TDA gang under the alien enemy law, the governor said.
“One more, Florida will lead,” Gov. DeSantis posted on X. The governor reported that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Highway Patrol troopers and special agents from the HSI have arrested the fugitive, a well-known TDA gang member. The man is wanted on a fugitive warrant for human trafficking and smuggling, the Post said.
Fdle officials identified the man as Franklin Jose Jimenez-Bracho, a member of the Tren de Aragua gang. “Bracho has been appointed as a trafficker and smuggler and is also part of an ongoing investigation,” the official posted to X.
The state agency thanked DeSantis, “We are grateful for ensuring that Florida law enforcement agencies have the power to defeat foreign terrorist organizations like Tren de Aragua.”
