Florida Attorney General Seeks License Revocation for Nurse’s Controversial Comments

The Attorney General of Florida, James Usmeyer, is urging the Florida Board of Nursing to revoke the nursing license of a woman who, according to White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, expressed a desire to see harm come to women during childbirth.

“It’s troubling to think women might have to deal with nurses who are politically motivated and wish for them to suffer pain during labor,” Usmeyer remarked. He emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and called for immediate action to remove this individual from practice.

Lexi Lawler, a former labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, posted a video on TikTok in which she explicitly expressed her wishes for Leavitt to experience severe complications during childbirth. “As a labor and delivery nurse, I’m thrilled to wish Caroline Leavitt a fourth-degree rupture,” she said, adding more graphic details about her hopes for Leavitt’s suffering.

Her comments have drawn significant backlash. Lawler’s remarks came to public attention just after Leavitt announced, in December, that she and her husband are expecting a baby girl in May, with their first son due in July 2024.

In response to the controversy, Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital terminated Lawler’s employment. The hospital has stated that her comments do not align with the values and standards expected from its healthcare staff. Despite this, Lawler defended her statements in another video, veering into topics unrelated to her original comments, including a recent mass shooting in Minnesota.

She remarked, “So they murdered a man in Minnesota, and these mothers are coming after me because I used foul language? I’m on the right side of this.” Following the uproar, a GoFundMe page was created for Lawler, aiming to raise $14,000, and has so far collected nearly $5,000.

Fox News Digital has reached out to both the Florida Board of Nursing and Lawler for further comments on the situation.
