A Florida Chipotle employee was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of using a Best Buy tracking device to monitor his ex-girlfriend from several years ago, hoping to “run into” her, authorities said.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by the newspaper, Tyler Michael Strzok, 22, was arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office after a woman discovered a cube tracker attached to his car last August. was charged with a felony.
Investigators were able to determine that Strzok obtained the gadget from a chain store because his email address was linked to the purchase, the complaint alleges.
According to the complaint, first reported by The Smoking Gun, the woman told authorities she had a “brief sexual relationship” with Strzok several years ago, but that he had since had “further substantial contact in recent years.” He said that the relationship had ended.
The defendant publicly stated that he bought the tracker and placed it in his ex-girlfriend's car in front of her house “in an attempt to 'run over' the victim,” the affidavit states.
Mr. Strzok, of Clearwater, was charged with placing a number of tracking devices and released on $5,000 bail.
