Mixing guns and alcohol is a bad idea — even in Florida.
This became apparent when two individuals, described as a couple, were arrested after allegedly firing weapons while drinking near their home on Saturday night.
Tiffany Rose Lindo and Jacob Roibert Mills, both 25 and from Fort Pierce, FL, found themselves in trouble when law enforcement responded to calls about gunfire around 9 p.m. that evening, as stated by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities reported that the couple was using a shotgun, a rifle, and handguns, and had been consuming alcohol before and during the shooting.
The sheriff’s office remarked on Facebook, “A BAD COMBINATION, A WORSE DECISION: Firearms and alcohol. Two things that should never be part of the same plan.”
While there were no injuries noted, residents were reminded about the dangers of handling weapons while intoxicated.
“While shooting into the ground might have seemed like a good idea at the time, incorporating alcohol and multiple firearms is not a mix that leads to positive outcomes,” the sheriff’s department warned.
They shared images of the firearms involved, which included an AR-style semiautomatic rifle, a shotgun, a semiautomatic handgun, and a derringer-style pistol.
The sheriff’s office also released photos of Lindo and Mills smiling in the back of a police car post-arrest.
Both individuals faced charges for discharging a firearm in a public or residential area, as well as for using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
