Two 10-year-old students in Florida were arrested and charged after a report that elementary school students were exchanging handguns, according to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office discovered that two students made a deal in early February to exchange firearms for $300. The gun belonged to the student’s deceased father, who sold guns.

Both elementary school students were arrested and charged with the exchange.
The student who sold the handgun was charged with selling or purchasing a firearm by a minor, illegal possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a firearm on school grounds, and possession of marijuana over 20 grams. He was charged with selling. According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, possession of a firearm by a minor, unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a firearm on school property and grand theft of a firearm.
The mother of the student who sold the gun is a deputy with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office. She is on leave pending an administrative investigation.
The two students are currently in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
