Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Advocates for Anti-Abortion Policies
James Fishback, a Republican candidate in the Florida gubernatorial primary, has expressed strong anti-abortion views. He has stated his intention to close all abortion clinics in the state, which currently number 53, aiming to replace them with crisis pregnancy centers.
In a recent statement, Fishback praised Governor Ron DeSantis as the most pro-life governor in the country and emphasized his commitment to supporting pregnant women in Florida. He mentioned that the new centers would provide essential services such as free ultrasounds, baby supplies, counseling, and prenatal and postnatal care. “Abortion is never the answer,” he remarked, asserting that every expectant mother deserves genuine support.
Interestingly, Fishback has also tapped into modern campaigning methods, including creating a Tinder account aimed at reaching younger female voters.
A report from the Guttmacher Institute noted a reduction in abortion clinics in Florida, dropping from 53 in March 2024 to 49 in December 2025. Fishback has not hesitated to declare his views on abortion, stating unequivocally that he regards it as “100% murder” and plans to address it as such if elected.
He has been vocal on social media, emphasizing his resolve to abolish abortion altogether. Meanwhile, notable endorsements in the race include former President Donald Trump, who has backed Congressman Byron Donald, alongside candidates like Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins and former House Speaker Paul Renner.
With the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary still over two months away, the campaign landscape continues to evolve, and Fishback’s propositions could stir significant discussion among voters.
