Florida Attorney General James Usmierer has directed state law enforcement to halt undocumented arrests of immigrants under the new immigration law after federal judges doubled the restraining order against the state.
The order comes after U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams said she was “shocked” at the state’s decision to continue her arrest after she issued an earlier order to order officials to halt earlier this month.
The Florida Attorney General’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Under state law, it is a misdemeanor for illegal immigrants to enter Florida.
In a letter to state officials, Uthmeier directed state law enforcement to comply with the judge’s orders, despite not agreeing to the decision.

The order comes after a state suing lawyer revealed that he had made 15 arrests in the past two weeks, including a US citizen born in Georgia.
Last week, 20-year-old Juan Carlos Lopez Gomez was drawn to the Florida Highway Patrol near the Florida-Georgia border and was later detained by immigration officers. It is unclear whether Gomez, who was detained under a new law signed by Gov. Ron Desantis in February, provided identification when he was arrested.

Gomez was charged with illegal entry to Florida and was detained in the Leon County Jail, where the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) demanded that he be held for up to 48 hours. The next day, Gomez was released after his mother provided her birth certificate, Social Security card and state identification card in court.
ICE and the Florida Immigration Coalition did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Fox News Digital.

The next hearing regarding the enforcement of state law is set for April 29th.
