An elderly man shot and killed his wife and then himself at a Florida nursing home, police said Tuesday.

St. Petersburg Police Department said in an email that staff at the Addington Place facility in College Harbor found the couple dead in the woman's room around 10 a.m.

Investigators said the 81-year-old man was visiting his 76-year-old wife when the shooting occurred. Their identities were not immediately released.
Addington Place is a waterfront building near the Gulf of Mexico that its website describes as a “vibrant senior community with all the amenities you need.” Residents live in one- to two-bedroom apartments.
