When authorities investigated the bags, they found a handgun with an 18-round magazine fully loaded. Further investigation revealed an AR-style magazine with a fully loaded .223 ammunition and a plastic bag with two boxes of 9mm ammunition and four boxes of .223 ammunition, officials said.
The secondary compartment in the bag was said to have included a loaded Zastava Arms AK-47 style rifle and some more fully loaded magazines.
According to Platkin’s Office, Kennerk temporarily abandoned his bag to buy tickets for the Amtrak train to Virginia. He then boarded a train in Newark, but was intercepted by law enforcement at the next stop on the train in Trenton.

Authorities said they discovered more weapons and ammunition at the time of Kennerk’s arrest, including “AR-15-style rifles separated into the receivers at the bottom and top, multiple caches of ammunition, multiple expansion magazines, and multiple handguns.”
According to Platkin’s Office, they also found another rifle with .300 AAC Blackout ammunition.
“The officers put the muzzle facing the ground and put it in their suitcase, and tried to get one of the handkerchiefs out to make it safe. At that point, the firearm was ejected without officers involved in the trigger and the gun was trapped in a booby,” the AG’s office said.
Officials said they found four silencers and hollow point ammunition in both the 9mm and .22 long rifle calibers.
