A Florida man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly grabbing two different women by the throat during an argument over the choice of political candidates at a polling place.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Stuart McMillan, 71, got into an argument with two women over the choice of political candidates around 12:30 p.m., and an argument ensued.
McMillan allegedly pulled one of the women's flags to the ground and grabbed her by the throat and hair. HCSO deputies said.. When the other woman came to help, the man allegedly grabbed her by the throat.

The sheriff's office did not say which candidate the opponents were supporting, but U.S. Rep. Danny Alvarez, who represents Hillsborough County House District 69, reportedly witnessed the altercation.
Alvarez, a Republican and Army veteran, said the women showed up holding flags supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, while McMillan showed up waving a flag for Donald Trump.
According to FloridaPolitics.com, he claimed McMillan grabbed him by the throat after an argument broke out and a fight ensued with a flag.

“It looked like they were playing swords with the flag,” said Alvarez, who reportedly helped break up the altercation.
The incident occurred near the Palmetto Club Fishhawk Ranch polling place in the Tampa suburb of Lithia, and law enforcement officials said the victim and suspect were exercising both their right to vote and their right to free speech.

“Even when we disagree, our community is built on respect and understanding,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Violence has no place in our community. Here in Hillsborough County, we hold accountable those who disrupt the safety and decency of our neighborhoods.”
McMillan was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.
