Florida man allegedly paid for acid attack on former girlfriend

Police in Florida have arrested three people on suspicion of kidnapping a woman. suffered an acid attack Outside his home in New Jersey.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that 49-year-old William DiBernardino hired 38-year-old Betty Jo Lane and 39-year-old Jamar McNeill to pour acid on the victim.

“The victim suffered chemical burns over 35 percent of his body.”

Prosecutors said the victim was attacked in the driveway of her Monroe Township home while on her way home from work in July.

“When the victim opened her car door, an unknown female approached and threw a cup and its contents directly at the victim,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “The victim suffered chemical burns over 35 percent of her body and was transported by helicopter to a burns center where she remains receiving treatment.”

Investigators said a “highly corrosive liquid” was used in the attack.

Police were able to track the rental car believed to have been used in the attack to Florida and track the suspects, who investigators believe paid DiBernardino to drive the pair from Jacksonville, Fla., to New Jersey.

After an investigation, police arrested DiBernardino, who was previously in a relationship with the victim. Florida police also arrested McNeill and Lane.

Prosecutors have filed numerous charges against the three, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and fourth-degree stalking.
