A Florida man attacked his neighbor with a knife during a neighborhood dispute, authorities said on the scene.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Adiel Herrera, is accused of attacking his apartment neighbor after the two got into an argument. The incident occurred on December 28, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), which shared body camera footage on Facebook.
While the victim, who authorities did not identify except as a woman, closed the garage, locked the door and tried to pull her away from Herrera, Herrera allegedly went to retrieve a knife.
Herrera then allegedly banged on the victim's door.
“When the victim opened the door, Herrera entered and slashed at the victim, injuring his hand,” LCSO said in a statement. “The victim was able to push Mr. Herrera out the door, where he continued to stab Mr. Herrera multiple times.”
Deputies located Mr. Herrera in his garage.
In the body camera footage, the deputy can be heard yelling, “Get here now!” Many times to Herrera in Spanish.
Herrera raised his hand, which appeared to be covered in blood, in the air as he responded in Spanish to the deputy asking him to enter his area.
Herrera was then taken to the field, where he was retrained.
He was charged with armed robbery with assault and is being held in the Lee County Jail without bail.
LCSO said Herrera's criminal history includes a September arrest for assault and resisting an officer, as well as “various other charges of violence.”
LCSO told FOX News Digital that the dispute started after a man made a comment about the suspect's family.
“It is no surprise that this man has a long criminal history, including aggravated assault and battery,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. “Violence of any kind is not tolerated in Lee County. Not only is he a bad neighbor, he is a bad resident of Lee County.”
