Florida man arrested for allegedly beating up 68-year-old because of his Jewish background

Broward County, Florida authorities have arrested a suspect on the following charges: beat up an old jewish man after yelling racial slurs at him.

According to Lauderhill police, the attack occurred Saturday around 1:30 p.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, told police he was leaving a service at a local synagogue when he was suddenly jumped by a man police identified as Trevor Rodney. The victim told police he had never met the man before and did not recognize him, but that he had shouted “racial slurs” at him during the attack.by sun sentinelThe victim was wearing traditional Orthodox Jewish clothing at the time of the attack.

Police said the victim suffered “a bruised eye, several minor abrasions to his face, and severe pain to his body.” The attack could have been much worse had a passerby who witnessed the attack not stopped his car and yelled at Rodney, who then fled the scene. A passerby then called police, who responded.

Rodney told police that the victim’s head was “spinning around and a blue cloud appeared over the victim’s head and he feared the victim was going to eat his face.” Rodney was booked into the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail and charged with assault on a person over 65 years of age.

The victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and released the same day.
