A Florida man was arrested Thursday after he tried to snatch a 4-year-old boy from inside a CVS Pharmacy in Miami Beach, Florida, police said. But fortunately, the boy’s quick-thinking father came to his rescue and dragged him out. He might become a kidnapper.

According to WPLG Local 10, the horrifying incident, which was caught on CCTV, occurred around 11:55 a.m. as the boy and his parents were coming out of a pharmacy on the corner of Collins Avenue and 74th Street in the city’s North Beach neighborhood. did.

The brazen suspect, identified as 26-year-old Nicholas Starnaman, was seen walking into the store, suddenly turning, bending down and grabbing the boy by the neck.

The video shows Sternaman picking the child off the ground and turning to the store door to leave, when the father jumps on the suspect and pulls Sternaman away from his son.

The boy was seen falling to the ground, and the mother desperately tried to protect her child by picking him up, scooping him up and moving him to a safe location inside the store.

The boy’s father struggled with Stirnaman for several seconds, even ripping off his jacket, before the suspect broke through the door and fled the scene.

The witness and his father chased Sternaman south on Collins Avenue, where Sternaman took off his sweater and threw it away, WPLG Local 10 reported, citing police.

Officers joined the pursuit and arrested Stirnaman along Harding Avenue near 71st Street, about three blocks from the CVS.

Stirnaman is charged with felony counts of aggravated child abuse and child kidnapping, according to the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation website.

Starnaman, who lives in a penthouse at the Mirador 1000 condominium in South Beach, was also arrested on Jan. 3 for petty theft and released on $150 bail, WPLG Local 10 reported, citing Miami-Dade County court records. Ta.

The newspaper reports that Stirnaman refused to explain to police why he allegedly tried to kidnap the child.

The boy’s father warned WPLG Local 10 viewers, “Be careful every second of your child, because they could be taken away in a second,” while his mother described the incident as “horrifying.”

Witness Zachary Jefferson described to CBS News what he saw unfold.

“I was just standing at the cash register paying for my item and I looked… and saw a man fighting another man, and I thought someone was trying to take the woman’s wallet. ” said Mr. Jefferson.

“Everyone was shocked because it happened so fast. The man suddenly appeared out of nowhere.”
