Florida Man Charged for Using AI to Create Explicit Images of Teen Co-Worker

A man from Florida has been arrested after authorities claimed he used artificial intelligence to make explicit images of his teenage co-workers while employed at an upscale country club.

Thomas Christopher Ball, 49, is facing three felony charges in Boca Raton. These include transmitting harmful material to a minor, illegal use of a communication device, and altering a sexual depiction of a recognizable individual, according to court documents.

Authorities allege that while working at the Boca West Country Club, Ball started following a 17-year-old victim on social media and sent her inappropriate messages, as noted in a probable cause affidavit.

At one point, Ball purportedly offered to pay the victim $200 for oral sex in exchange for her address. This made the teen uncomfortable, prompting her to distance herself from him and question his behavior.

In a troubling turn, Ball allegedly sent an explicit AI-generated photo of the victim, utilizing a screenshot from a TikTok video he had posted. He is said to have threatened to send more fake images if she continued to ignore him.

The victim had reminded Ball of her minor status, to which he reportedly responded, expressing his affection in an inappropriate manner, saying, “I love her, I would do anything for her—take her to the spa, pamper her, and give her $1,000 because of how much I love her.”

A few days later, a friend of Ball’s called 911, stating he had gone to her house looking for a firearm to shoot someone who had lost their job.

Ball was arrested on Friday and is currently held at the Palm Beach County Jail with a court appearance scheduled for May 17.

Nicole Bishop, the director of Palm Beach County’s Victim Services Department, commented on the case, noting that while the created images might be fake, the psychological harm they inflict on victims is very real. She emphasized the need for laws to adapt as AI technology progresses.

As for Ball’s legal representation and Boca West Country Club, there has been no immediate response to requests for comment.
