A Florida man who aspired to become a police officer is now facing life in prison after admitting to sexually abusing his cousin during a police job interview.
State Attorney Andrew Bain’s office announced in a news release that Stephen Bodley, 26, was found guilty by an Orange County jury last week of sexual assault of a child.
Bodley first mentioned “playing sexual games” in his application for the oath of office with the Apopka Police Department.
He mentioned the crime again during the interview.
“A certified vocal stress analysis examiner conducted a vocal stress test on Mr. Bodley,” Bain said.
“During the exam, the examiner asked Bodley to elaborate on the answers he provided on the pre-exam questionnaire.”
Bodley described child sexual abuse several years ago and admitted it when asked to expand.
Detectives tracked down the victim’s mother, who said Bodley and the victim had an intimate relationship, the Tampa Bay Times reported, citing an affidavit.
FOX News Digital has reached out to prosecutors.
The woman told the Florida Department of Children and Families about the abuse, saying Bodley abused her over several years from when she was about 14 to about 19 years old, the paper said.

Bodley’s lawyers asked that the confession not be presented during the trial, but the judge denied the request.
The verdict is scheduled to be handed down on June 24th.
A conviction carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
