A man was killed and two others injured when a large truck crashed into a Florida strip club early Tuesday after the man was chased out of the club, police said.
The incident happened just before 4:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Emperor’s Gentlemen’s Club in Tampa.
The cab of the tractor-trailer crashed into the front area of the topless bar near the main entrance, beneath a sign that read “Fully Nude.”
Witnesses told police the aggressive driver had been chased out of the store earlier in the evening, but returned and “plowed his truck into a group of people standing at the entrance.” Tampa officials said.
Tampa Police Maj. Patrick Messmer said the suspect “lay in wait” for at least 30 minutes until the person he was arguing with emerged from the club.
At that moment, he ran into a group of about six people.
Police said one man died and two others were injured but are expected to survive.
None of the three were the attacker’s targets, Messmer said; they were all regular customers.
Police have not released the name of the slain driver but have described him as a 25-year-old man.
He is in critical but stable condition and will be charged after his release from the hospital with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI causing serious injury.
