A New York man’s joyriding trip in the Florida waves was halted by police after he intentionally bypassed a closed gate and rode onto the beach.
The incident was caught on camera as Jason Brzaskiewicz, 49, drove a Dodge Ram pickup truck to the shores of New Smyrna Beach just before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. was captured.
According to a press release from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Bryuskiewicz bypassed an access gate to a closed beach that was closed to vehicles due to high tides and strong winds.
The 48-year-old also failed to pay the vehicle entrance fee required to enter the beach.

Video of the incident taken by the sheriff’s office shows Brzuszkiewicz driving a white pickup truck through shallow water for more than a minute.
In part of the clip, Bruzuszkiewicz can be seen trying to eat a donut in shallow water.
Three New Smyrna Beach lifeguards rushed to the deserted beach and found the 48-year-old man retreating into the water.
The lifeguards later told police they contacted Mr. Bzuszkiewicz “in the event of a medical issue.”

When officers arrived at the scene, Bryuskiewicz told them he wanted to drive on the beach, according to an affidavit obtained by police. fox 35.
Deputies informed Brzuszkiewicz that vehicles are prohibited from accessing the beach due to inclement weather.

“It’s not my fault that the truck didn’t hit the wave,” Brzuszkiewicz is seen telling lawmakers in the video.
“Yes, but you shouldn’t drive on the beach when all the gates are closed,” the deputy replied.

“Do you mind if I get in trouble for that?” Bzuśkiewicz asks.
“Yes, that’s right,” said the deputy.

Police arrested Bryuskiewicz and transported him to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
He was charged with violating Volusia County Ordinance 20-174. [8]bail was set at $200 for failure to pay vehicle access fee.
The truck was also towed away by police.
