Incident at Orange County Courthouse

A shooting occurred in the parking garage of the Orange County Courthouse in Florida on Wednesday, halting court activities for several hours. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that they were investigating what they described as an attempted murder of a woman within the garage.

Later that day, authorities arrested a suspect identified as 26-year-old Kenneth Jerome Logan Jr.

Logan faces multiple serious charges, including:

• Attempted first-degree murder with a firearm
• Two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm
• Armed burglary with a firearm
• Burglary with assault or battery
• Robbery using a firearm
• Aggravated stalking
• False imprisonment with a weapon
• Battery

According to reports, Logan was denied bail and remains in custody as of Monday.

Further details emerged that Logan and the victim are married. The victim had gone to the courthouse in downtown Orlando to file for an injunction against him, although specifics about this injunction weren’t disclosed.

After parking her car and heading to the courthouse, the victim returned to discover her vehicle had been tampered with. She noticed the driver’s seat was adjusted and something in the back seat, leading her to flee the area.

Logan allegedly exited her vehicle, aimed a handgun at her, and fired two shots as she attempted to escape. After hitting her with the gun, he grabbed her fallen cell phone and continued pursuing her while trying to reload the weapon. Thankfully, the sheriff’s office confirmed that she was not injured in the shooting.

Logan fled the scene but reportedly threw an item into her car while escaping. During the encounter, he repeatedly questioned her, asking, “Why are you doing this to me?”

The deputies arrived at the scene around 11:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire, and the courthouse was placed on lockdown until the situation was resolved, which occurred later in the afternoon.
