Florida man says he was 'transported' into stolen BMW before crashing it at 130 mph: 'You rescued me from the aliens'

Delusional Encounter During Car Theft

A burglar in Florida has taken the concept of delusions to a whole new level. Accused of stealing a BMW, the man claimed that he was “teleported” into the car under the influence of the X-Men. He expressed his gratitude to the police officer, stating that he was saved from an “alien” pursuing him, as captured by police body camera footage.

Calvin Johnson, 36, faced arrest after allegedly taking an unlocked luxury vehicle from Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach. Minutes later, he apparently crashed the car while driving it at speeds reaching 130 mph, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The car’s owner reported that he was walking his dog when he realized the dog was missing and remembered that he had left his keys in the cup holder.

The footage revealed officers approaching the wreck, where a visibly injured Johnson insisted that he hadn’t stolen the car but had instead been “teleported” into it by the X-Men.

“I don’t know how to get in the car,” Johnson told the deputy in a distraught manner as captured on video.

“I don’t know, I just teleported away.”

As police handcuffed him, he muttered confusedly in response to their questions.

In the footage, Johnson slurred, “They told me, the X-Men, to do it.” He added, “I wouldn’t do that. Someone told me to go in there. There’s someone inside my head. Thank you for saving me. I don’t know how you got in there. You saved me from the aliens.”

Eyewitnesses at the scene commented that his seatbelt likely saved his life, as he appeared disoriented.

Video footage revealed a gray 2018 BMW with a severely damaged hood parked along the side of the road after colliding with trees and bushes nearby.

Witnesses quickly attempted to extinguish a fire that had erupted within the car and surrounding vegetation along the highway.

Johnson now faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle as well as driving with a suspended license. Following his arrest, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is set to be transferred to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
