A Florida man wanted on weapons charges was found with a gun and counterfeit cash inside a box of chicken wings in a restaurant parking lot last week, authorities said.
Brian Chapman, 26, was arrested on Feb. 17 and charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of counterfeit money and possession of counterfeiting tools, according to arrest records. He is facing numerous charges. He also faces charges on an outstanding warrant out of DeSoto County for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

Chapman's arrest began when a sheriff's deputy spoke with the two men in Zaxby's parked car. The deputy smelled marijuana and learned that one of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Chapman, had an outstanding warrant.
Chapman was taken into custody and a gun and counterfeit currency were discovered during a search of his vehicle. Authorities said they also found equipment used to make counterfeit bills.
“I commend Deputy Montemurno for showing such initiative in this investigation,” said Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter. “His willingness to be proactive led to the arrest of a felon and helped prevent more people from becoming victims.”
