Florida Teacher Fired After Alleged Relationship with Student

A math teacher in Florida has lost her job after reportedly flirting with a student for five months. This came to light when the boy eventually revealed to his parents that he had a “secret girlfriend.”

Kirsten Rose, 37, was dismissed from Cocoa Beach Middle/High School following a decision by Brevard Public Schools on Tuesday night.

Just eighteen days after she was placed on administrative leave due to serious allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor, the school board decided to terminate her employment. This development was covered by local news.

“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and are quite troubled by these allegations,” the school board commented. They emphasized their commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Rose, who was arrested on April 10, faces five charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one charge relating to her status as an authority figure involved with a student, according to court documents.

Her case originated from a report made by the boy’s parents, who became aware of the alleged inappropriate relationship and reported it to the Brevard Sheriff’s Office after an investigation that spanned several months.

It’s said that Rose and the student communicated on Instagram during their off-hours for months before the arrest.

Reports suggest that their interactions continued into the new year, with sexual encounters taking place in February and March. The situation raised alarms for the boy’s parents when he started coming home late from work.

Curious about his whereabouts, the parents grew suspicious upon discovering he was in an unfamiliar house. When they pressed him for details, he mentioned being with his “girlfriend,” but he didn’t initially divulge Rose’s identity.

Pressure mounted, and he ultimately confessed that he was involved in a “relationship” with the teacher.

Following her arrest, Rose was taken to the Brevard County Jail, where she was processed and later released on a $250,000 bail the next morning.

A court hearing is set for May 5.

Interestingly, court records reveal that Rose had recently finalized her divorce several months prior to this incident, with the legal dissolution officially concluded on August 26, 2025.
