Florida mom’s concrete driveway stolen

A single mother trying to sell her Florida home is troubled by a strange theft: someone stole her concrete driveway from the ground.

“When I got home, my driveway was gone” Amanda Brochu told WFTV That's when she realized someone had torn out the concrete driveway of her Orange County home last month, leaving a muddy mess in its place.

The puzzled mother said the mystery began as soon as she put her house on the market.

Soon, strange contractors began showing up to measure driveways, and Brochu's son told the outlet that he counted five such workers in total.

When she asked the crew what they were doing, a Tampa-area man identified only by his first name, “Andre,” said he had hired them to price replacements.

The team asked Andre for a quote and even provided her with a text message that allegedly gave Brochu's address, WFTV reported.

However, when the contractor requested a face-to-face meeting, the suspicious customer was out of town and cut off communications when asked for proof of ownership, the outlet said.

A week later, Brochu's doorbell camera captured a bulldozer tearing up the concrete driveway and carting it away.

Brochu told WFTV he was “completely unprepared” for the bizarre theft.

Her real estate agent, Rocky Sanchez, recalled his “utter shock” when he learned what had happened.

“I've never seen anything like this before. I've never had anything like this happen to myself or anyone in my office,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez posted about the missing driveway on a Facebook group for real estate agents and believes Brochu is the victim of a bizarre scam.

“We've had multiple people come in and say they've seen this happen on their driveways, on their roofs, on their paint, and even outside. So it's happening more often than we actually see it.” she explained.

Now, Brochu is under pressure to replace her driveway in order to sell her home within two weeks. If you don't, you'll lose out on the property you're under contract to buy nearby.

According to WFTV, she recently replaced her roof and made a new investment, but she was worried about whether she would be able to raise $10,000 for the project.

“No one will buy this. This will just destroy the property and ruin me and my family,” Brochu lamented.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the driveway theft, did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.
