Florida mother leaves four children unsupervised for almost a week while she visits Las Vegas; police await her at the airport.

A mother from Florida is facing legal issues after she reportedly left her four kids alone at home for almost a week during a trip to Las Vegas. Authorities met her at the airport and arrested her following an incident where her youngest child was hurt while she was away.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office stated that a child dialed 911 shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, announcing that her 9-year-old brother had suffered an injury when a dumbbell had fallen on him.

‘The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate child neglect.’

Responding deputies found four children aged 14, 12, 11, and 9, left unsupervised at the home.

The 9-year-old was taken by rescue personnel to Celebration Hospital for treatment but was later discharged.

A deputy reached out to the children’s mother, identified as 50-year-old Irene Miller, over the phone.

“She indicated that a babysitter was arranged to come from Tampa in the mornings to prepare the kids for school and check on them after school, but that she didn’t require the sitter to stay overnight,” the statement mentioned.

Miller explained to the officer that she was in Las Vegas for work and planned to return on Friday, October 23.

As reported by the New York Post, Miller, a professional photographer according to her social media, was reportedly working with a real estate client in Las Vegas connected to Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.

Police stated Miller had left Florida for Nevada on October 18.

Bodycam footage released by the sheriff’s office shows deputies confronting Miller upon her arrival at Orlando International Airport after her flight from Las Vegas on Friday. She was escorted through the airport and subsequently arrested.

Miller, hailing from Kissimmee, now faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm after being booked into the Orange County Jail.

Reports indicate she has posted bail and has been released from custody. The children’s father was contacted, and he took all the kids to his home.

Osceola Sheriff Chris Blackmon remarked, “The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate child neglect. These cases will be thoroughly investigated, and charges will be filed against parents who fail to properly supervise or care for their children.”

No immediate court date for Miller has been provided.
