A pastor in Florida, who has written a book on marital love, was taken into custody this week for allegedly having multiple wives.
Leslie Williams, 62, was arrested Wednesday based on an outstanding bigamy warrant, just outside his home in The Villages, a retirement community known for its rumored swinger activities, as per local law enforcement.
Williams, who leads his own ministry within this sprawling 55-and-over community, is sought in Georgia where the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department issued a warrant for him on April 3 related to bigamy charges.
He is currently being held without bail at the Sumter County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Georgia.
The details about his first marriage are unclear. However, in December, he shared a post on Facebook about marrying a woman named Cindy, which prompted numerous congratulatory comments.
One post remarked, “Wow, I thought you were married already. Congratulations!!”
Another commenter said, “Love is in the air! Mr. and Mrs. Williams!”
A few days later, Williams praised his new spouse in another social media post, expressing gratitude for the positive comments regarding his “beautiful and talented wife.”
He also shared a selfie that week, which led to feedback like, “You look like a different person.”
Williams, now facing accusations of bigamy for a second time, is also known as the author of a book that aims to help men enhance their love for their wives by addressing common marital issues.
His book, titled “Love Her Like This: Loving Her Deeper Than Ever Before,” emphasizes Biblical principles for improving marital relationships.
Released in 2017, the book is geared toward men who aspire to love their wives more deeply and addresses typical problems that can jeopardize marriages, according to its Amazon page.
As a pastor, Williams characterizes himself as an “apologist and teacher of God’s Word who shares timely messages pertinent to the Christian community,” as reported by local news.
His ministry, Leslie Williams Ministries, focuses on providing “end-of-the-day preparedness” services and is based in a rental location within a shopping area in The Villages.
Efforts to contact the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office for further details regarding the bigamy allegations and extradition have not yielded a response.
