Anger after Florida congressional candidate labels President Trump 'anti-Christ' who 'should be killed'

A retired Marine running for Congress in Florida is facing backlash after a troubling social media video where he labeled President Trump as the “Antichrist” and suggested he “should be killed.”

William Upham, although medically discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps last May, appeared in uniform during the nearly seven-minute video rant.

In his video, Upham expressed his discontent with the state of the country, stating, “I reached a turning point in my campaign. Why? I realized that our country is broken. We are led by a president who is the enemy of God, and President Trump will never unite us as God intended.” He’s running as a write-in candidate for Florida’s 5th District.

He further declared, “There is no doubt in my mind that President Donald J. Trump is the Antichrist. He is a false savior, your enemy, and must be killed,” claiming this realization stemmed from Trump’s remarks regarding Pope Leo XIV and images Trump posted portraying himself in a Christ-like manner.

“He looks nothing like Jesus Christ,” Upham insisted, wrapping up his statements with, “President Trump is the Antichrist and will be killed and sent to hell. God will triumph over evil.”

Interestingly, he added, “Violence should never be used for evil purposes such as revenge or plunder,” which felt like a sudden departure from his earlier comments about Trump’s assassination.

“We must protect ourselves from all enemies, including those here at home,” he also noted.

Due to the disturbing nature of the video, the Marines publicly disavowed Upham on Tuesday night.

“The Marine Corps is aware of disturbing comments made by Mr. William Upham, who was medically discharged on May 30, 2025. Mr. Upham’s comments are in direct violation of the oath he was sworn to uphold and are contrary to the values of the Marine Corps,” the military branch stated.

Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Kao condemned Upham’s extreme comments in light of recent violent incidents, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk last September and three assassination attempts on President Trump over the past two years.

“Unacceptable. William Upham is no longer a Marine and no longer represents our values and spirit,” Kao posted.

Upham did not provide a response to requests for comment.
