A Florida woman who stole President Biden’s daughter’s diary and sold it to a conservative group was sentenced Tuesday to one month in prison.
Amy Harris appeared in federal court in Manhattan, where she was also ordered to serve three months of home confinement.
Harris repeatedly missed her sentencing date because she was busy caring for her two children, ages 8 and 6. After prosecutors requested a prison sentence, Harris told the judge, “I believe I am above the law.” I don’t think there is,” he said. “I am a survivor of long-term domestic violence and sexual trauma.”
Harris pled guilty to conspiracy charges in August 2022, admitting that she accepted $20,000 of the $40,000 she was paid by Project Veritas for the personal belongings of the president’s daughter, Ashley Biden.

Project Veritas is known for conducting hidden camera stings that embarrassed news organizations, labor groups, and Democratic politicians.
In court, Harris tearfully apologized for allowing Ashley Biden’s private writings to become public. Harris said Biden removed the diary from her home in Delray Beach, Florida, where she lived briefly in 2020, and believed her belongings were kept there.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman said Harris stole diaries as well as “everything he could get his hands on,” including digital storage cards, books, clothing and packages, in hopes of “making as much money as possible.” That’s what it means.
“She wanted to damage Mr. Biden’s father,” he said.
Judge Laura Taylor Swain said Harris’ conduct was “despicable and serious” and exploited the president’s daughter for profit and to influence the presidential election.
Mr. Huh testifies that Mr. Biden “intentionally retained classified materials,” and prosecutors “had no choice but to take into account” his mental state.

She also said Mr Harris abused and strained the court system and “made promises to the court with no intention of keeping them.” Prosecutors said Harris also missed multiple sentencing dates.
The judge noted that Harris and co-defendant Robert Kurlander tried unsuccessfully to sell Ashley Biden’s belongings to then-President Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign.
Defense attorney Anthony Ceccatti asked that Harris not receive any prison time. He mentioned her traumatic life and her efforts to care for her children while recovering from her abuse and violence. He said the trial was sufficient punishment for Harris and prevented her from securing full-time employment.
“She carries the shame and stigma of her actions,” he said.
