The moment officers arrested the suspect in the attempted assassination of former President Trump in Florida was recorded on an officer's body camera and released on Monday afternoon.
Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder said at a press conference Monday that suspect Ryan Routh, 58, was arrested Sunday after deputies surrounded his vehicle on northbound Interstate 95.
Footage released by the sheriff's office shows deputies ordering the driver to surrender, then put his hands on his head and slowly back away from the deputies.
Routh is accused of ambushing Trump in bushes at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, with an SKS-style rifle.

Authorities said a Secret Service agent spotted Routh's rifle through a chain link fence about 300 yards away, one hole from where Trump was playing, and fired shots before Routh fled the course.

Routh was quickly arrested after a witness provided authorities with photos of the suspect's vehicle.

Snyder told reporters that Routh was caught near the Palm City exit 714 on Interstate 95 and that it took authorities about two miles to surround the vehicle and use their best efforts to force it to a stop.
“He was just being smart and driving with the flow of traffic,” the sheriff said. “Maybe he thought he had gotten away with it.”
Routh appeared in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday morning and was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
