Florida state Senator Jason Pizzo announces his intention to run for governor.

Florida State Senator Jason Pizzo recently announced that he has changed his party affiliation from Democrat and plans to run for governor of Florida. When asked about his intentions, he confirmed, “Yes, I am.” This statement came during an interview with CBS News Miami.

Pizzo expressed in a written statement that Florida needs to prioritize public service over party agendas, emphasizing the financial and resilience challenges the state faces. He believes focusing on the basics of governance is essential.

The current governor, Republican Ron DeSantis, is completing his second term and won’t be eligible for re-election in 2026 due to state constitutional limits on consecutive terms.

Meanwhile, Congressman Byron Donald, a Republican from Florida, also announced his candidacy earlier this year, encouraged by former President Donald Trump, who showed strong support for Donald’s potential run, calling him a “truly great and powerful governor” for the state.
