Florida thief attacks deputies during arrest, authorities say

A self-proclaimed “nature maniac” who allegedly tried to break into a Florida school hid from authorities inside a tube slide on the schoolyard before attacking a deputy, officials said.

Palm at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of someone trying to open the doors of seven vehicles and throwing objects at a playground fence, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Police were called to Casa Montessori School on the Coast.

Authorities said the suspect, 45-year-old Julie Martellucci, ignored commands to leave the playground and tried to hide inside a corkscrew tube slide. When she was taken into custody, she allegedly elbowed her deputy in the face.

While on the playground, Martellucci allegedly threw some playground sets over the fence, knocked over others, entered a storage shed and attempted to break into the school. fox tampa report.

Body camera video of her arrest shows Martellucci telling a deputy that the business was closed and that she was behind it with a “frog” because she is a “crazy nut of nature.” can be heard.

“This would-be thief has reached an all-time high in his attempts to steal from local businesses,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley said. “She slipped into the Green Roof Inn leaving a mess in her children’s play area. [aka the Flagler County jail]. We would also like to thank the concerned citizens who called in to report suspicious activity that led to her arrest.

“Finally, if you hit the deputy sheriff, I promise you I’ll go to the Green Roof Inn.”

During his arrest, Martellucci said he would have preferred the “electric chair” rather than being mistreated by the authorities.

“You’re so scared of police brutality that you want to be electrocuted?” one lawmaker can be heard asking off-camera.

“Kill the frog and they’ll give you the electric chair,” Martelucci replied.

She was arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery and resisting arrest with violence and assault on a law enforcement officer. She was being held on $15,000 bail.
