Florida Woman Arrested for Alleged Murder After Confrontation
A Florida woman, 24-year-old Katherine Dale Kelly from Cocoa, was arrested over the weekend and charged with murder after allegedly locating her boyfriend during a late-night meeting with another woman and then firing shots into a vehicle.
According to police reports, Kelly told investigators that her actions were meant to “make a point” amid suspicions that her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, was cheating on her again.
She faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, firing a weapon into a vehicle, and using a firearm during the commission of a felony, as stated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident took place early Saturday morning in Port St. John. Reports indicate that Baker used Kelly’s Volkswagen to pick up Angel Adenau around 1:20 a.m. Following this, Kelly tracked Baker’s location and took an Uber to meet them.
Approaching the passenger side of the vehicle, she allegedly fired one shot through the window, which hit Adenau in the left shoulder, as per reports from Space Coast Daily.
After the shooting, Baker transported Adenau to her home, where emergency services were called. She was later taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, Kelly asserted that she had acted in self-defense. However, text messages retrieved from Baker’s phone suggested otherwise, with Kelly accusing him of being unfaithful and even threatening violence prior to the altercation.
Kelly’s next court appearance is slated for November 24, according to the sheriff’s office.
