Florida Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Drugging Man from Dating App

A woman in Florida is facing serious charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly drugging a man she met through a dating app.

Samantha Adams, aged 39, had been involved with a 69-year-old man for a couple of months, a relationship described by authorities as “for the purposes of…paid sex,” according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Adams had been using the name “Nala” during their interactions.

The deputies in Polk County have dubbed her a “black widow,” which is, well, quite an alarming nickname.

Investigation Details

“She tried to kill him,” Judd mentioned in a social media video. “She attempted to overdose him and also tried to extort him.”

The incident occurred on August 17, when Adams and her victim argued about a vehicle that he had purchased for her. When he wanted it back, citing financial strain, she suggested they discuss it at his home.

Once at his place, Adams allegedly handed him a shot glass purportedly filled with whiskey.

According to Judd, “She slipped him benzodiazepine.”

After consuming the drink, they engaged in some physical affection, but when the victim made a move towards intimacy, Adams reportedly asked for $1,000. When he replied that he didn’t have that amount, she quickly got dressed and left.

Victim’s Condition

Shortly afterward, the man was en route to pick up his granddaughter from a nearby gas station when he began to feel unwell.

Later, he recalled being pulled out of the driver’s seat by his granddaughter, which is quite concerning.

She then drove him home, and when he remained unconscious hours later, she called 911.

Upon arrival at the hospital, he received Narcan, indicating a suspected opioid overdose.

Tests revealed he had benzodiazepine poisoning, along with dehydration and acute kidney injury. This is all rather troubling.

Benzodiazepines are known to be sedatives that can lead to issues like confusion, respiratory problems, and in severe cases, even death.

The victim noted that he doesn’t drink much—his last notable drinking occasion was on the Fourth of July, and he felt completely fine afterward, unlike his experience with Adams.

Continuing Investigations

Interestingly, he admitted to having drowsy episodes after meeting with Adams previously. He even had a close call earlier in August after falling asleep at the wheel, which resulted in a police intervention.

Sheriff Judd commented, “There’s still a lot of investigations to go,” suggesting that this case is far from over.

Ten days post-incident, Adams was arrested on August 27 outside a store in Polk County.

In addition to attempted murder, she’s also been charged with resisting an officer, offering prostitution, tampering with evidence, and multiple drug-related offenses.

During the search of her vehicle, law enforcement discovered various prescription medications, including hydrocodone, oxycodone, Zoloft, and Xanax.

Interestingly, Adams had previously been tied to a Lake County investigation concerning another elderly man, raising further concerns about her intentions.

As of September 2, Adams remains in custody without bond, and her attorney has not responded to requests for comments on the matter.
