Fognini refers to Moutet as 'little pig' during a tense handshake at the Stuttgart Open

Tennis Match in Germany Results in Heated Exchange

A tennis match in Germany earlier this week had its share of drama. Corentin Moutet faced off against Fabio Fognini in the first round of the Stuttgart Open, ultimately winning with scores of 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Moutet was visibly excited after his win, even pumping his fist and tossing a ball to the crowd.

However, things took a turn after the match. Initially, the players exchanged handshakes as per tradition, but then Fognini confronted Moutet. Attempting to speak to him, Fognini seemed to escalate the situation when Moutet chose not to engage. Fognini reportedly lost his composure, making some harsh remarks in French, calling Moutet a “little pig” among other insults.

It’s not the first time Moutet has found himself in a tense moment on the court this year either. Earlier, he had to be separated from Alexander Bublik during a match.

With this victory, Moutet will next face Alexander Zverev, currently ranked third in the world. This comes after Fognini’s recent exit from the Roland Garros qualifiers, while Moutet had been eliminated in the round of 64 by Novak Djokovic.

Fognini, once ranked 9th globally, now sits at 117th, while Moutet holds the 91st spot. The world of tennis surely has its ups and downs, both on and off the court.
