"Follow My Recissions Bill" – Trump Urges Republicans Regarding DOGE Reductions

Senate Republicans are gearing up for another significant vote, and this time, it’s about some adjustments to the budget cuts proposed under what they call the Doge Cuts.

There’s been some public concern among Republicans regarding the extent of the cuts in the legislation.

Word has it that Senate Republicans are looking to reclaim billions tied up in foreign aid and funds for public broadcasting, but there’s a growing divide among those who might be impacted by President Trump’s proposed cuts.

Many in the Senate Republican camp are expressing their discontent with the White House-backed $9.4 billion budget plan that would slash $8.3 billion from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and also cut over $1 billion from the federal funding for NPR and PBS.

These proposed cuts come from Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, which has received applause from many Republicans for its mission to cut down on waste and fraud within federal expenditures.

However, there’s a rising tide of concerns regarding certain areas, particularly the president’s plans for the AIDS relief program (PEPFAR) and the funding for public broadcasting.

Senators like Susan Collins from Maine, Mike Rounds from South Dakota, and Lisa Murkowski from Alaska have openly voiced their apprehensions about the bill.

Donald Trump has sent a clear message to Republicans in Congress, urging them to adhere to his proposed cuts and to ensure funding for businesses to support public broadcasting, claiming that organizations like PBS and NPR are worse than some major news outlets combined.

He has also warned that any lawmakers opposing his proposals will lose his “support or approval.”

In a statement, Trump emphasized, “It’s crucial for all Republicans to stick with my recission bills and ensure that we fund these organizations. Those who vote to let this situation continue will find no backing from me. Thank you for paying attention to this matter!”
