Last week, a food truck owner was hospitalized in Long Beach, Calif., after being stabbed after chasing a man who assaulted an elderly woman and stole her belongings.

Brian Teakun, Owner Brian’s Billieria A food truck driver said he was driving his truck home after a long shift on March 11 when he noticed an attack and robbery occurring near Broadway and Pine Avenue. KTLA TV reported.
“I saw her walking on the street many times,” Tekun told police, adding that he immediately ran over to help her.
“I asked her, ‘What happened?’ I helped her get up,” he added to KTLA. [suspect] running. She said, “He stole everything from me!”
Upon hearing that, Tekun got back in his truck and chased the suspect down Ocean Boulevard for about three blocks, stopping at Lincoln Park, the station reported.
According to KTLA, Tekun spotted the suspect near the skate park and confronted him.
“There was a short argument,” Tekun told the station. “While she was retrieving her belongings, it felt like her shoulder was about to dislocate.”
Police soon arrived and took the suspect into custody, KTLA said, adding that Tekun refused medical treatment, got back in his truck and drove about 15 minutes to his next destination, a catering center.
“There’s blood on my shirt.”
After hearing Tekun’s harrowing story, a security guard at the center was asked to look over his shoulder and discovered his condition could be more serious, the department said.
“When I took off my black sweater, he noticed blood on my shirt,” Tekun told KTLA. “So I called an ambulance.”
Police said Tekun was found to have been stabbed twice in the shoulder area and twice in the ribcage. KTLA added that there was also internal bleeding.
As a result, Tekun was hospitalized for three days and will need to recuperate at home for the next month, the department announced.
KTLA said that in addition to the physical pain, Tikhon is also experiencing financial inconvenience as he is temporarily unable to work and pay his two employees.
“I’m just trying to recover and get back on the field as soon as possible,” he added to the station.
