A pair of thrill-seekers took a daring 21-minute ride on the outside of a Los Angeles subway train, capturing their journey on film as they sped beneath the city.
In an Instagram video, one of the passengers can be seen stopping in front of a moving D Line train while the other films from just behind as the train passes through various subway tunnels and stations.
The footage reveals the train racing along the tracks, with lights and structures flashing just inches away.
Some passengers were visible waiting on the platform at different stations, watching as the train whizzed past.
Eventually, the video concludes at Mid-Wilshire Station, where both thrill-seekers hop off the front of the train and walk away.
Details about when the video was recorded or if anyone else was involved remain unclear.
A commenter, who claimed to be a train operator, cautioned against such reckless behavior. He wrote, “As a train driver, this is completely reckless. If you make a mistake, you could fall and end up in the third rail, or worse, be injured by a train coming up behind.”
This video highlights a worrying trend among young people who film themselves performing dangerous stunts, like riding the exteriors of moving trains, for online notoriety despite the life-threatening risks involved.
The practice, referred to as “subway surfing,” has prompted repeated warnings from transit authorities nationwide, emphasizing the potential for serious injuries—or even fatalities.
