Arson at Pennsylvania Governor’s Mansion: New Details Released
New surveillance footage has surfaced showing an individual starting a fire at the mansion of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro using a Molotov cocktail in April. This video was shared by the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office just after Cody Ballmer admitted guilt to charges including attempted murder and aggravated arson.
Ballmer, who is 38 years old, set the fire around 2 a.m. on April 13, after Governor Shapiro and his family had just celebrated the first evening of Passover. Thankfully, the Shapiro family was asleep during the incident.
The footage captures Ballmer breaking a window with a sledgehammer before tossing a Molotov cocktail inside, igniting a fire that damaged the mansion. The video also shows him trying to break down further windows and doors, notably one leading to the area where Shapiro’s family was resting.
Despite his efforts, he wasn’t able to breach a door. However, he managed to throw another Molotov cocktail into the dining area before fleeing the scene.
During his arrest, Ballmer reportedly expressed hostility towards Governor Shapiro, stating he intended to attack him if he found him present. At a recent press conference following Ballmer’s guilty plea, Governor Shapiro emphasized the need for accountability regarding acts of political violence. He urged the public not to become desensitized to such troubling events.
“Unfortunately, our families aren’t the only ones facing political violence used as a means to silence and intimidate,” Shapiro remarked, stressing the importance of acknowledging the severity of these incidents.
