ICE Shooting Incident in Minneapolis
Video footage has surfaced showing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shooting at a driver during a protest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday. The altercation unfolded moments after federal agents approached the driver’s SUV, instructing him to exit the vehicle.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) later claimed that the driver attempted to run over an officer just before the agents opened fire. In a related context, some reports have linked this incident to events involving anti-ICE protests.
In the video, a voice from an officer can be heard demanding, “Get out of the car. Get out of the damn car,” as officers approached in snowy conditions. A bystander yelled, “No!” when the driver began to reverse the vehicle.
Another agent was filmed circling the vehicle, positioning himself in front of it moments before it surged forward. As the car approached, he fired at least two shots toward the driver, then moved aside as the vehicle continued forward. The car subsequently veered off the road and crashed into another vehicle.
Following the shooting, a bystander shouted, “You guys are criminals!” at the law enforcement officers present.
A spokesperson for the DHS commented on the incident, stating that ICE officers were executing a targeted operation when they encountered interference from a mob. According to the spokesperson, one individual in the group attempted to run over an officer, describing the situation as an act of domestic terrorism. The spokesperson emphasized that an ICE officer acted in defense of himself, his colleagues, and the public.
